Taeden Johnson, Athens Fire Survivor, Experiences Love Amid Loss

Taeden Johnson, a 12-year-old from Athens, Georgia, was the lone survivor of a house fire that killed his mother, grandmother and little sister early on Jan. 27. Johnson’s story quickly permeated the community thanks, in part, to the years-long relationship with his mentor, Zac Hendrix.

What Can You Do About Sexual Assault in Northeast, Georgia? Here Are Some Key Resources

Officers arrested the 51-year-old male suspect accused of armed robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault just 45 minutes after receiving a 911 call by the victim on Feb. 28. The caller had been finishing her work duties for the night when she became the victim of a sex crime. While this survivor was able to escape and the suspect was quickly put in custody, the crime itself is all too common in the Northeast Georgia community. 

Kentucky Fights For Calipari’s 300th Win

Kentucky regained their No. 1 seed amongst the SEC after defeating Ole Miss 80-76 at the Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi. The young Kentucky basketball team had to raise their level of play after a tough loss against Tennessee. And even without star player Reid Travis, Kentucky was able to beat Ole Miss to continue the hunt for a NCAA Tournament top rank seed.
